MOSCOW, Dec 2 (PRIME) -- The Russian Energy Ministry has created a workgroup to consider construction of gas chemical facilities on the Yamal Peninsula, which can attract up to 2 trillion rubles of investment, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said late on Tuesday.

"The Arctic zone can become one of the promising regions for the future processing facilities in the Russian Federation. In this context, a special workgroup was established by the Energy Ministry, interested companies and the federal authorities for the development of gas chemical and upstream facilities on the Yamal Peninsula," Novak said.

He said that the resource estimate of the peninsula is 26.5 trillion cubic meters of gas, 1.6 million tonnes of gas condensate and 300 million tonnes of oil.
